This makes Raven realize that she can trust him. He confesses to Raven that he is the one who disabled the missiles and blamed it on her to buy time to save Raven's friends on the ground. When he can't take it anymore, he asks everyone to leave the room so that he can talk to Raven alone. In Shifting Sands, Shaw can't bear to watch as Raven is tortured by McCreary to unlock the missile launch codes. Later, Diyoza orders Shaw to launch missiles and attack the bunker to kill Octavia and her people but Shaw refuses to launch the missiles, telling Diyoza that the hacker, Raven, has blocked the missile launch codes. He tries to hack back but Raven proves to be a challenge. In Pandora's Box, Shaw notices that someone has hacked into the Eligius IV computer system. After bringing Clarke to Diyoza for interrogation, Shaw continues to show that he doesn't want Clarke to get hurt. He is sympathetic towards Clarke which leads to a disagreement between him and McCreary who wants to kill Clarke right away. In Sleeping Giants, he is working with Paxton McCreary to capture Clarke and Madi. He questions her after she kills a prisoner that Clarke captured. In Eden, he lands on Earth onboard the Gagarin and exits the ship with Charmaine Diyoza. He agreed to help Charmaine Diyoza take over the ship, if she spared his life. His captain agreed, but Shaw did not, which led to the shock collars being deactivated, causing a mutiny on the ship and the Asteroid Mining Penal Colony. During the mining operation, when he and his crew reported that the prisoners were getting sick, the Eligius Corporation had a different option they decide to start "Order 11," which would abandon the prisoners on an asteroid and bring home the Hythylodium. On April 4, 2047, he was an employee on board the Eligius IV. He once met Becca Franko, on the bridge of Eligius IV at its launch. One of the soldiers giving the orders was Charmaine Diyoza. In " Acceptable Losses" Shaw reveals that when he was a kid, after the " Battle of San Francisco," he watched the television, showing the evacuation of thousands of refugees being packed into aircraft carriers, and seeing soldiers pushing helicopters overboard to make more room. He also used to serve in a church as an altar boy.
